The world's first burrito vending machine has arrived
WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE of a burrito craze here in Ireland, but across the pond they’ve been a big deal for years.
Such a big deal, in fact, that the world’s first burrito vending machine has been installed in a service station in Los Angeles.
According to LAist, the kiosk offers five different types of burrito: roasted potato, bacon, chorizo sausage, chicken and shredded beef.
Simply select the burrito you want, choose sides like Tabasco sauce, sour cream or guacamole, and wait for your burrito to be prepared.
When we say “prepared” we don’t mean robotic arms emerge and begin to roll fresh ingredients up into a delicious wrap – we wish. The machine heats up the pre-made burrito and spits it out 60 seconds later.
The folks at LAist decided to take the plunge and do a taste test of all five flavours. Unsurprisingly, they found the burritos to be bland, mushy, and in bad need of some, y’know, actual flavour.
We’ll stick to our freshly made burritos, thanks.
